Is Good Omens worth watching? ›

Gaiman creates a tight story in six nearly hour-long episodes. For a tale about the end of times, it's a surprisingly streamlined story, despite the different jumps in time. This series is a fun and wild ride that you'll want to stay on until the very end.

Like the novel, Good Omens features various Christian themes and figures and follows various characters all trying to either encourage or prevent an imminent Armageddon, seen through the eyes of the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley.

Pratchett responded positively eight months later. According to Gaiman, he originally began the book as a parody of Richmal Crompton's William books, named William the Antichrist, but it gradually outgrew the original idea.

Good Omens Season 2 features a long-awaited kiss between Aziraphale and Crowley, but it doesn't solve all their problems. The kiss serves as a last-ditch effort by Crowley to express his feelings for Aziraphale, but Aziraphale chooses to return to heaven.

While Crowley and Aziraphale are male-presenting for the majority of the show, there are moments where they are female-presenting (refer to previous sources). Aside from the gender binary, there are some characters that identify as neither such as Crowley's boss, Beezlebub, and an angel named Muriel.

This is a great show so far (watched season 1) there is some nudity like you see a butt in a non-sexual context in the garden of eden scene. There are a couple implied intimacy or fade-to-black romance moments that are tasteful. The swearing is artfully done and comedic, not gratuitous.

Good Omens season 2 will be released on Prime Video on 28th July 2023. The news was announced on 10th May, the anniversary of when the book was first published, with Prime Video tweeting a new poster with a lyric from Buddy Holly's Everyday.

Crowley does not become a demon in Good Omens. Crowley is already a demon by the time the novel starts and the reason he became one is because he fell during the first conflict between the angels when Satan fell. This is briefly referenced at points throughout the novel, but is not a major or even minor plot point.

Gaiman has consistently written queer characters and cast queer actors – not just in Good Omens, but in his other hit shows The Sandman and American Gods.

Jesus does not make an appearance in Good Omens, suggesting that his role has already been filled. This is further supported by the fact that it is Adam that eventually stops the apocalypse from happening. Adam also resembles Jesus in deeds.

More specifically, Aziraphale is supposed to be the angel with the flaming sword that was left to guard the Tree of Life after Adam and Eve were thrown out of the Garden of Eden, as described in the Book of Genesis.

Great show with some nudity

Parents need to remember children might not understand the show's story. alcohol and drugs 3/10 in a part the main characters drink themselves to sloppiness but are able to reverse the process and put the liquid back in the cups.

Supernatural creator Eric Kripke used the original Good Omens book as inspiration for his show's demon, Crowley, and included nods to the book and other work. A significant connection between the two shows is the use of an Antichrist character, with Supernatural basing its character on Adam from the Good Omens book.
